James will lead Colombia against Venezuela and Brazil

It may be a difficult period in his club career but James Rodriguez still has the faith of Colombia coach Jose Pekerman who has called on the 25-year-old to captain the national team against Venezuela and Brazil.

He will be joined by newcomers Davinson Sanchez and Orlando Berrio for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in South America.

Berrio has been a starring figure in Atletico Nacional's recent Copa Libertadores triumph and will ably support the Real Madrid midfielder in attack.

The team will all travel once their respective domestic responsibilities are complete as Colombia look to improve on their current fifth position in the FIFA World Rankings.

Pekerman has recalled Teofilo Gutierrez to the squad following his Copa America absence whilst Carlos Bacca will also be present in attack.

Defensively the squad is based around Eder Alvarez Balanta who makes his first international call-up following his transfer to Basel.

Colombia host Venezuela on September 1 whilst the second clash takes place at the Maracana on September 6./ShikoNews
