Griezmann: I had a great season last year
As one of the three men shortlisted for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award,Antoine Griezmann is more than pleased with the performances that have gotten him there, but he still thinks he can do better yet in the season and years to come.
The former Real Sociedad man finds himself on the podium with Real Madrid pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, with the winner being announced at Thursday's Champions League draw.
Griezmann enjoying a superb season, scoring 32 goals in all competitions as he fired his side all the way to a Champions League final where they were denied on penalties by their rivals across the capital.
"I had a great season and that shows I'm on the right path," the Frenchman told UEFA.com.
"It's not to blow my own trumpet, but I think I've earned this after a great season with my club and my national team.
"It would be an incredible achievement to win this award, it would mean that I'm achieving my goal of being one of the best."
The attacker accepted that last season was his best to date, but doesn't want to rest on his laurels.
"There's more to come from me, more goals, more assists, and yes, also trophies," Griezmann admitted.
He singled out his highlights of the year just gone, reflecting on some of the squad's most memorable performances.
"It was all great, but what stands out for me were the Champions League quarters and semis against Bayern and Barcelona."/ShikoNews
