At least 10 killed by earthquake in Italy


Few 10 people are reported dead from the earthquake of 6.2 on the Richter scale that struck today in the early morning hours italian town Amatrice, reports BBC.

The mayor, Sergio Pirozzi said many people were trapped under the rubble.

"The roads are blocked. Half of the city is gone, "said the mayor, Sergio Pirozzi.

"There are people who are trapped under the rubble ... There were landslides, and bridges can collapse", he further added.

Civil Protection Agency in Italy said the quake was "heavy" and there were reports of damage in the mountainous areas. Facebook is written in the Gran Sasso mountain in a large part of the rock collapsed in the quake.

This earthquake was felt in the city of Rome and its epicenter was near L'Aquila, where an earthquake of 5.9 on the Richter scale had years ago killing 309 people, reports Rel.

Curcio added that the recent earthquake was severe and the intensity can be compared with the earthquake that struck years ago l'Aquila, the quake but today may be less deadly because it has hit a less inhabited area .
