James Rodriguez takes centre stage for Colombia

While not getting much luck in a white shirt, James Rodriguez continues to excel in the yellow of Colombia as he helped himself to a goal and assist for Jose Pekerman's side in Thursday's defeat of Venezuela.

After seven games of World Cup qualification, Los Cafeteros sit pretty in third place of the 10-team South American league, boasting the man with the biggest individual contribution.

James' three goals and three assists is unmatched in the CONMEBOL section, and the Colombian captain's skills will be tested to the full when he leads them out in Manaus against Brazil on Tuesday.

The Olympic champions are stuck in fifth going into the clash, but are rejuvenated by a trio of late goals earned a massive away win over fourth-placed Ecuador last week.

For Rodriguez, the quest continues to lead his country to another World Cup, a fair way to put his reconquest of a Real Madrid shirt on hold for a fortnight./ShikoNews
