Iheanacho stunner secures consolation win for Nigeria

Kelechi Iheanacho fired Nigeria to a 1-0 win over Tanzania in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

It was the first game for Nigeria manager, Gernot Rohr.

The Super Eagles had to wait till the 78th minute before they could register the first and only goal of the game.

Tanzania keeper Manula gave a man-of-the-match display, stopping Nigeria on a number of occasions. But the shot-stopper had no answer to Iheanacho's superb goal in the 78th minute.

The Manchester City striker picked up a short corner, ran into space to set up himself on his left foot before striking fiercely from the edge of the box to see the ball comes off the under side of the crossbar and go in for the winner.

Super Eagle's hopes of Africa Cup of Nations qualification were already dashed before the game. Nigeria's 1-0 loss to Egypt in March thwarted their hopes of reaching Gabon 2017 in a group reduced to only three teams following Chad's withdrawal for financial reasons./ShikoNews
